Group VolunteeringThere's no better way to build up your group's team spirit and camaraderie then through volunteering. We enjoy inviting corporate, school, youth, church and other types of groups down to share in the volunteer experience here at SFBFS! We can accommodate groups of 10-15 volunteers at once, but are happy to accommodate smaller or larger groups if necessary. Volunteer opportunities are typically available on the following days/times:
Youth or school groups may volunteer for 2 to 3 hour shifts. At the Saca Community Learning Center in North Sacramento, groups assist in the Parent Education program and the warehouse to sort donations, stock the programs and assist clients. At our Food distributions, volunteers provide emergency groceries and nutrition education to families in need. These are farmers' market style distributions that take place at offsite locations (church, school or community center parking lots) in North Sacramento and Oak Park. At our offsite West Sacramento warehouse, groups bag grocery items for the Food program and/or sort and bag clothing items.
