General Volunteering Information & Requirements

Come and volunteer with Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services! With six unique programs there are plenty of opportunities to get involved! From tutoring adults to sorting clothing to mentoring youth or working outside in the Demonstration Garden, there are endless ways in which your time, skills, talents and passion can be used to make a positive impact in our community.

Please note the following restrictions and requirements:
  • Minimum age to volunteer at SFBFS is 10 years old.
  • Volunteers between the ages of 10-15 must volunteer with an adult.
  • Volunteers ages 16-17 must volunteer with parental permission.
  • Potential volunteers must first attend a 2 hour orientation in order to be eligible to volunteer.
  • SFBFS does not offer service hours for court-mandated community service.
  • Volunteers may not receive services from SFBFS while volunteering.
