Computer Clubhouse
The Computer Clubhouse was established in 2000 through a partnership with Intel, the Museum of Science in Boston and the MIT Media Laboratory. The Computer Clubhouse is part of a network of over one hundred similar clubhouses around the world, three of which serve different populations in the Sacramento area (visit www.computerclubhouse.org for more information about the network). The goal of the program is to give at-risk, inner-city youth a creative, fun, safe and goal oriented after school environment where they can explore their horizons through the use of technology. The children receive quality mentorship and are given access to resources, skills, and experiences that will help shape their future. In addition to advanced technology and sophisticated software, other important components of the program consist of homework help, team building skills, focus sessions and the importance of succeeding in school and life.

The Computer Clubhouse serves over twenty youth between the ages of 10-18 from the local Oak Park Neighborhood of Sacramento. These students are given a healthy avenue for expression and constructive learning through various animation, Web development, sound editing and photography and videography programs. A recent addition to the program is the Autodesk Animation Academy, where students learn graphic design skills 3D imagery and visualization.

Together, with the guidance and support of qualified mentors, youth are given a chance to learn and thrive. Volunteers age 18 and up guide students by providing one-on-one homework tutoring and challenging them to learn new technology skills.
